With 518 likes with 718 people talking about this Facebook Page by Edgar Storm AKA Eddy Current is a smashing success and really fills a great void in the metal detecting world by providing daily stories that the hobby and industry should know about all across social media.
It was fascinating watching Eddy C. build his reach online. He is always in good humor but he must of been rolling his eyes when I thought he was putting the horse before the cart.  I always preach that if you have an idea, buy the domain name as it is the modern equivalent to the early patent.  It protects your brand you build.  I also ribbed Eddy C. to get his own site up and host his effort there, then feed it into social media to bring them back to your effort.
Well, Eddy C. did it his own way and it is really paying off for him.  He found his niche and quietly built a following across all the turf warfare that exists among the relic and treasure hunting industry & hobby online and through social media.  A true pioneer and his Temerity to pull it all together is not only going to serve him well, but it will also serve this great addiction we all share.
Here’s to your Temerity Eddy C.!

Probing History is the TV Concept I am working on this Research Season

I wanted to share with you one of my TV Concepts: Probing History

Blog: ProbingHistory.com

Facebook Page: Probing History

Group: Temerity Magazine

Outhouse-Architectural-Plans

 Concept:

Privies, or outhouses and dump sites are valuable time capsules that tell a story once the relic and treasure is recovered.  Probing History’s Chad Everson will assist property owners in recovering the stories of their property then sharing it through the TV program, and Temerity Magazine.

Cast:

chad profileChad Everson:

Relic and Treasure hunter who seeks out the story recovered of that pioneer spirit that strove to attain the American Dream.  Chad specializes in metal detecting, privy and outhouse digging, Outlaw cache sites, Trail Trees, Stone monuments and Temerity.  He does not understand or practice cherry picking, he digs deep probing history for his property owners.

 Property Owners:

What makes the show and the concept so interesting is the property owner.  These are the great American’s who thirst to know who loved their land before them and know their story.  Many never imagined they would be digging a privy or outhouse probing history so they are out of their element, but with a shared goal, the task gets done and we tell their properties story.

Lookey Lou’s-

No matter where you dig or hunt someone, somewhere is going to wonder what the hell you are doing.  I have had the most interesting conversations with Lookey Lou’s that just so happened to stumble across me hunting relic and treasure.  Many times I get a great story of the property that the property owner would never share with me, or one they have never heard of before.  Most of the time we share a chuckle and I am usually on the receiving end.  One of the best lines I remember being hurdled out of a pickup they had loaded with family and friends to take a gander at my exploits was, “If your trying to grow beer, it won’t work!”  I had to lay my shovel down and just laugh!  90 some degrees that day and the best giggle I had been given all hunt season.  I just pray I can capture it on video when it happens so I can share it with you.

Episode Synopsis:

Chad introduces the property owner and together they share the sites story.  Our goal in Probing History is to find relic and treasure that will support that story or lead us onto another story.  Then the fun continues with a lot of hard work locating, digging and retrieving the artifacts.  Then after all is cleaned and researched we wrap up our findings and tell the story we found Probing History.

Creators note:  This is a slick and streamlined concept that can be accomplished with the limited resources Theodore Media LLC have at their disposal.  When we find a network home, or grow the concept we will add more bells and whistles if needed.

We are shooting for 6 complete episodes to be available online in the Fall/Winter of 2013.

How is Your Research Season Going?

Mine is now underway here and just like out on the hunt, it seems a piece falls in place or loose ends get tied little by little each day.  Tonight I was thinking back to research seasons of the past.  I remember the first research season, I didn’t quite know what to do. I was all anxious about finding locations to hunt and upgrading my gear, that I never really did get much done.  Then the hunt season came and it seemed like all that I had worked on was just as well thrown out the window.  The sites demanded more from me than I had prepared for in research season and the style of my hunting began to change from that coin shooter to the relic and treasure hunter I am becoming today.

That next research season was fascinating because I had a site that I had worked a long time on obtaining and it was finally opening up come Spring.  I spent countless hours sifting through some pretty wacky tobaccy sites online and in print to glean a glimpse of what I hoped to find on that site.  Prepared, and prepared some more until finally I was able to get on that site and get Grizzly hunting for relic and treasure.  LOL, I got on the site and the illusion or greenery was quickly revealed.  I had to throw out all the hooey ballooey I had waded neck deep in during the research season out the window and learn a whole new set of archaic knowledge that was very hard to find anything about it!  Worse yet, Sentinels came streaming in with the panties in a wad because of what I just discovered would really put a kink in their cover story.

The hilarious way life works sometimes just has to make you laugh out loud when no one can hear you.  The sentinels and the land owner conspired against me blowing their fantasy.  Boy did that piss me off.  I took it hard being I found some things there that would rock your world.  It sure did mine.  But, I dusted off my sandals and concentrated on my plan B site, that was just suppose to be maybe a couple weeks or a month long hunt at the most.  Well, if I did not just find a better site, untouched, no protected land, and finds that blew my socks off, damn near right in my own backyard!  The other site I was whining about was a 3 hour drive one way!  This site, if I don’t want to prove that Grizzly shit in the woods, I can go home and use the dream fulfilled throne and be back hunting in a half hour!

Life is funny!  And so is research season.  It is funny but this is the first research season where I have everything I need to make at least the first part of this 2013 hunt season work pretty slick.  I know now where I need to concentrate and dig deep.  I know where I need to scout out more and document.  I am not running around frantic hoping to line up properties because the properties I have if I am lucky I can do them justice this year.  I am running around trying to process all the relic and treasure found last year.  Some valuable but most only valuable because they hold a clue or tell a portion of the story or stories I am chasing along with the rusty nails.

I am sure there are a million and one things that I should be doing and preparing for this next hunt season.  But you know what?  I have learned that no matter what you do, how much you prepare, you will always be challenged on the hunt once you swing the coil and dig the plug, it is on baby.  You just never know what you will find and what story will grab you by the collar and demand to be told.

So prepare as much as you can this research season, but don’t sweat it too much.  Take your metal detecting a swing of the coil at a time or a shovel full at a time.  Don’t get anxious over the little stuff.  Spring will come when God brings it.

Ancient Ghost To Find a New Haunt

ANCIENT GHOST Book No 1Cowboy Bart Jeppesen and his amazing Ancient Ghost Signs, Symbols and Code book series will be finding a new haunt in 2013.  With Theodore Media LLC restructuring Temerity Magazine had to make the tough decision to discontinue its service of publishing our authors books.  The old strategy that proved to be a failure in realizing the businesses goals and realizing the goals of its authors made a tough decision a little bit easier.

I pray we have given Cowboy Bart Jeppesen a good start in promoting his wonderful book series for the relic and treasure hunter.  We feel we lifted his effort as high as we could reach but in the end, it just did not reach both our goals fast enough.  So to fit with our new strategy we are assisting Cowboy Bart in the transition to a new Facebook Page of his own and sending out all the book .pdf files so that he can continue selling his book online or taking it to a book publisher that already has the distribution and PR machine in place.

It is exciting for both Cowboy Bart Jeppesen and myself because freeing up both of us to realize our efforts goals should bring success faster for both our efforts once the dust settles.

Ancient Ghosts is the new Facebook Page:  https://www.facebook.com/AncientGhosts

Please show your support and like the new page as Cowboy Bart will be working this week to bring the great content over there from the old page.

A fresh start and a new strategy for both efforts in 2013.  I am really excited to see how Cowboy Bart and Ancient Ghost will take off once he is able to share this years videos of him recovering relic and treasure as well as sharing with you how he used the wisdom in his book to discover it.  It is going to be a great 2013 for relic and treasure!

“PA! 40 acres to look for your lost gold watch and you did not bring your metal detector, pinpointer or even a dang dowsing rod?” Suzy exclaimed, obviously frustrated at the futility of the hunt Suzy was defeated.

“Suzy…Keep looking!” encouraged Pa!

Temerity Magazine Newsletter

Thanks to a new option I have the ability to engage those that have subscribed to this blog with a Newsletter sent to their emails that they subscribed to this blog.  I am pretty excited about this ability as it allows me to stay in touch better and hopefully will gift the subscribers a way to learn more of what we are doing and have some input to opportunities that are coming our way.

You can subscribe in the right sidebar to both the newsletter and the blog.  If you would enjoy your product advertised in the newsletter just contact me through the blog.

I haven’t yet decided to publish and send the newsletter weekly, Bi-weekly or monthly yet.  What would you suggest?

Tree Carvings

I have been enjoying my research season this far, really having the luxury of sifting through the data documented this last year on the hunt.  This video footage is on a major juncture and creek crossing on a productive cache site.  I walked by this tree and worked around it this year, but only in researching the footage did I realize the same map I have found on surrounding rocks is also evident in the tree carvings and root manipulation.  Check it out, what signs, symbols and clues are you missing on your hunts?

Thoughts on restructuring TemerityMag

Everything has now been restructured but the Temerity Magazine entity.  I am thinking of also restructuring the magazine.  Right now it is in very good standing and has grown with each issue.  We have just finished our 1st issue in our 3rd year.  But with the rest of the restructuring, I am thinking of how I can improve the magazine and find a return on all that I have invested into it.

One of the great blessings is the reader submitted articles.  It is one of the easiest ways for my fellow relic and treasure hunters to get published, share their passion for this addiction we all share and get their efforts out there so others can find their videos, websites and business.

However, this is also the Achilles heal as I never know if I am going to have enough interesting articles for each issue or if they are going to cover the full spectrum of relic and treasure hunting.  Thus far, the magazine has been very blessed.  But I am still reluctant to put subscription packages together because I still don’t know from issue to issue if the magazine will be a viable product to pre-sell.  Luckily it always has been, but what if the articles submitted dries up because everyone is enjoying the hunt season?  Or another competitor successfully slows our growth?

These are all stumbling blocks to the strategy that has taken this far.  I am concentrating right now to solve these issues so we still have room for great submitted articles, but whether they come or not should not define the issues success or failure.

The one thing I have an easy answer to all those that ask is why isn’t Temerity Magazine available in retail outlets and metal detecting stores.  Well, there is a very easy answer to that.  Magazines that are now in print and have huge distribution are quickly going all to digital because of the enormous overhead of “in-print” product carries.  The magazine industry is changing to digital and I am not in any hurry to make the same mistakes they have.  We have our bases covered.  It is free to read online, available to be purchased in print and in digital download from http://www.magcloud.com/browse/magazine/390469

The other area that needs to be improved is creating a subscription list and tonight I found a great way to do that.  I can’t believe I had not found this earlier, but finally I have the tools to keep the subscription list up to date.  So even the entity that was doing fine, is being improved and restructured to meet the needs of the marketplace.

Mabel was then lost in laughter that she almost wet herself.

Digging Scotland’s Past Article gets Rave Reviews from our Readers

This last Temerity Magazine issue was another success as we slowly grow our reach.  David Maxwell’s article has been one of the articles that I have heard the most compliments on as of late.

It Seems that our readers are really enjoying the insight into how David photo documents his finds in such a dramatic way.  I agree, one of the hardest things I struggle with is photo documenting my finds.  It is so crucial and David does it better than most but more importantly he had the Temerity to share it with you the reader of Temerity Magazine!

Below is a Gallery of the images David shared in his article so you can view them at full resolution.
